The notebook would not work with HP drivers, but when I used the Intel Update Utility at the Intel Download site to identify and update the Wifi and Video drivers, then installed the latest version of the Widi App (version 3.5.40.0), the Probook connected immediately - good quality and reliable connection. Win 8 support with Intel Widi 3.5." I stopped trying to connect the Samsung, but decided to try my Gen 2 i5 hp Probook - it has compatible hardware (Intel Advanced Centrino 6205 and Intel HD 3000 video) and is loaded with Windows 7 Pro. The PTV3000 Widi status is: "Coming soon. This takes you to a Windows 8 Announcement page with a link to driver status.

The information is found on the home page of the Netgear web site - ironically from the "Windows 8 - We're Ready!" link. After researching Intel, Samsung, and Netgear forums, I found that the PTV3000 Widi does not yet work with Windows 8. I was finally able to finish setup using Win 7 Drivers, but the connection drops and reconnects every minute or so - I never get a reliable connection with Windows 8. I spent many hours trying to connect my wife's Samsung Notebook wirelessly, using multiple versions of Wifi and Video drivers, and multiple versions of the Intel Widi Software. However, the PTV3000 doesn't work with Windows 8 yet in Widi mode - a firmware update is expected "soon". When you have compatible equipment and drivers, setup is quick and easy the adapter works well. The PTV3000 Push2TV is Netgear's current model for Intel Widi (and now Miracast) wireless video connection.
